Greetings Coronado Area leaders,

Just a friendly reminder, registration for this year's NYLT closes on 1 July 25. If you have any Scouts who are planning on attending the course and have not registered, please reach out to them and let them know the deadline is quickly approaching. National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program designed for youth members of Scouting America. The program provides these youth with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their home Troop or Crew. The leadership skills taught can be used in any other situation demanding leadership of “self” or “others.” This year's course covers 2 weekends in the summer of 2025.  The first weekend will be July 25-27 at Camp Brown and the follow-up weekend is August 1-3 at Camp Hansen.  Attendance at both weekends is REQUIRED.

Currently, we have 10 registered. This course is much better with more participants. If you haven’t sent one of your youth leaders to NYLT in the past, you should consider doing so. This will benefit your unit and your Scouts, I guarantee it! I have seen its benefit in my Troop and that is why I have been so heavily involved with the course recently. 

 If you have a Scout needing some financial assistance to attend this course, please reach out to Kyle Smith (kyle.smith@scouting.org) to discuss what might be available. Don’t let financial concerns keep a qualified Scout from this experience! The current campership form is attached. 

To attend this course, a youth must have the following qualifications by the beginning of the course:

 - Must be a registered member of a Scouting unit

 - Must be 13 years of age and a First Class Scout

 - Must have a current Annual Health and Medical Record, Parts A, B, and C

 - Must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops, Crews or Ships
